My name is Andrew Smolnik and I’ve been racing r/c cars on a serious level for 13 years. I am 27 years old and currently work in the product development dept for Genka Trading Corp, or better known as CEN Racing. I have been a Pro-Line team driver exclusively for over 10 years now and have really enjoyed using and promoting their great products. I began racing with my father locally in southern California in the electric off-road category. My first sponsor was Trinity and then from there I drove for Team Associated where I captured a National Championship with their TC3 on-road car.

These past couple of weeks I have been busy with the RCX Expo, the ROAR Truck Nats at the Nitro Pit, and all of the local series races. Buggy Nationals are just around the corner. It seems like this year has been one big event after another. It’s hard to stay focused when things don’t go your way and you always feel rushed. Never anytime to relax or recover. :P

You know what it’s like when one of your shock seals wear out, and shock oil occasionally leaks without warning… well seems like my dog has a worn seal… She’s getting a bit older, and is starting to ‘loose control’. Drip drip here, drip drip there… you get the picture. With 15-month-old twins in the house, that means two things. One, we need to fix the problem… and two we already have the tools in the house to do so.

A visit to the vet has things under control now, so no ‘pee-pee puddles’ on my watch!

With the popularity of “Rat Rods”, I figured that I’d combine the looks of the Rat with the functionality of a crawler. Ken Lochel turned me onto this look with one of his crawlers and I think it came out really nice!

I started prepping the Jeeps a little early this year.  We have a ton of wheeling to do during the spring, summer and fall and I want both of the rigs to be ready and to work flawlessly this year.  For off road duties, both my wife and I have Jeep Unlimited Rubicon’s. One is built more extreme for the toughest trails and the other is more mild mannered for less severe trails. Mine runs with 5 inches of lift and 37 inch tires. The wife’s sits 2.5 inches taller than stock and runs 35-inch tires.  We typically leave the smaller “street” tires on until we hit the trails.
