Springtime in Colorado is awesome!

Everything starts to turn green, the sky is as blue as you can imagine and if there is still snow on the ground, you get contrasts that are truly impossible! Out here in the very small town of Black Forest, there isn’t very much to do unless you have horses. Everyone in our little rural area has many animals, from chickens and geese, to horses, cows and alpaca. One guy who lives a few miles from us even has a giraffe. As soon as the weather warms up around here, at 8,000 feet elevation, it is time to get the horses groomed and ready for the trail rides of summer through the vastness of the Rocky Mountains. Winter takes its toll on animals that live in this environment, even when they are put away in barns.  This year, in preparation for spring and summer, I bought a new Nikon…… a really kick @$$ 10.2 Mega Pixel camera that will hopefully capture all the beauty of Colorado and other places I plan to travel over the next few months. Of course, it will be used for photo shoots as Project Jeep JK goes through its hardcore transformation for Advanstar Communications, as well. I’ve been taking some shots of my animals lately, trying to learn this advanced piece of equipment. Right now, all I know how to do is push the shutter button but it seems to take a great photo. We recently took a trip to Moab, Utah and did some pre-runs on the trails that make up the Annual Easter Jeep Safari. We also strayed from Moab and traveled into the San Jaun Mountains, making for an eventful journey.  For now… here is a shot of one of my horses, Toby, before we started his springtime grooming. We got out the clippers and gave him a clean shave yesterday. He started looking like a giant donkey!  I’ll show off some pictures of some recent trips of wheeling through Colorado and Utah next time.

Lastly, I’ve taken on the task of testing and reviewing each Proline Racing tire that can be considered for RC Rock Crawling. I’ve just started to test all eight types of tires and I’ll give a report on which Proline Rubber will dominate the Crawling season this year and years to come!
