Time are a changin’

My wife and I are expecting our first baby boy in a matter of days. She’s been on bedrest since January 4th. You can imagine the amount of home work I have not too mention that she’s board out of her mind day-in and day-out. Being there for her on an emotional level is at an all time high right now. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind being there for her. We’re brining in our baby boy into the world and I want to be there 100% for her and the baby.

But, becuase I can’t be too far from home right now, many of you know that I was not able to make the Nitro Challenge and I will miss the Silver State race as well. Lucky for me, the boys over at RCP, an online crawling store and makers of accessories for crawlers, has opened up Friday nights to run at there indoor crawling course. Crawling is the fastest growing segment of RC right now and being the marketing guy for Pro-Line I want to give it the full attention our crawling customers deserve.

You see, I’ve been a 1:1 crawling fan for years. My dad has been involved with crawling for over 10 years so getting to drive a 1:1 on the all time trail greats such as the Rubicon, Poison Spider and all the trails of Moab you get a keen sense of how crawlers work and why people enjoy the hobby/sport. The past weekend, I built up a new crawler for Sunday’s main event, the 5th round of the RCP Winter Series. With much anticipation, I headed out the door with my Scorpion driveline/Blackjack chassis in hand and to test our 2.2″ Badlands in M3 compound.

At the end of the day, I pointed out at the 5th gate.  My set-up wasn’t perfect with the new chassis and all but I learned what I needed to to get the crawler up to speed (speed is not synonyumous with crawling but the the Goat system from Novak dares to defy that) next week. You can say it’s my 4th new Hobby. A  father/husband first, racing 1:8 buggy and 1:8 truck being second, riding dirt bikes being third, and then there’s crawling.
